A Matter of Good Taste
We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with Michelin starred restaurant Simpsons, a British gastronomic powerhouse and their Chef Director, Luke Tipping. The unique collaboration will see the seasonal worlds of food and fashion come together in style!
Our Creative Director Luke Roper has designed the new uniform for the front of house team, that coincides with Simpsons celebrating 25 years as one of the Midlands’ most respected restaurants.
“Simpsons is a Midland’s institution and has been creating quality dishes for the past 25 years. They offer an unrivalled dining experience with superb service and attention to detail, something that I really like as it mirrors our ethos at LUKE, a fashion business.
It’s been fantastic getting to know Luke Tipping as we have so much in common. We hit it off straight away and have built a great relationship on both a personal and professional basis. Our professional roles are very different but have so much synergy from sourcing quality materials/ingredients, getting the detail and execution spot on, to changing our offer seasonally. They virtually mirror each other,” says Roper
Tipping first came across the label when he purchased a shirt several years ago and began to use the lion logo as his Twitter icon. He was later introduced to the man behind the brand and the relationship developed.
Roper and Tipping share many common interests including their home town of Walsall, a love of music, football and golf. They also share a passion for good food and fashion.
Their approach to their professional disciplines also shares many synergies such as their commitment to sourcing from reliable, ethical and high quality suppliers and the attention to detail that goes into the final product.
Tipping, says of the partnership, “It’s not every day you meet someone who you automatically click with but when I first met Luke [Roper] it was like we’d known each other for years. Aside from our first names we shared so much in common - most importantly a mutual respect for each of our professions.
Chefs like me spend so much time in our whites in the kitchen that we like to pay extra attention to what we wear in our free time. It was the Luke1977 logo that first caught my eye, but I was also impressed by the small details that show how much care was taken in making the garments. Being a keen golfer, I spend my spare time in casual shirts, polo shirts, chinos and jeans so there is plenty in the range that I like to wear. I’m sure that the Simpsons front of house staff will look and feel great in their new uniform.”
