John Hartson Golf Day x Luke
A fantastic day at Mar Hall recently saw the celebration of the 2016 John Hartson Foundation Golf Day and Gala Dinner. The event aims to increase awareness around testicular cancer as well as raise funds to support those affected by the disease, which Hartson himself battled.
Stars from the likes of Rangers legend Ally McCoist, former Celtic and Scotland player Frank McAvennie, Liverpool hardman Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Celtic heroes Chris Sutton and Stiliyan Petrov took part, competing on the fairways. Onscreen TV celebrities Jordan Young from popular soap drama River City and Joe Sims from the award winning Broadchurch all took part in the annual Know Your Balls Golf Day.
Thanks to the weather, everyone was a winner on the day, with Gerry McCulloch and his team taking the ultimate prize. The Gala Dinner was attended by over 200 people, all keen to bid for auction lots, grab photos with famous faces, enjoy a fantastic dinner and hear from John himself. A superb event with golf themed tables, flights to New York to be won and some of Glasgow’s Finest Makars Gin being served.
Hartson on his motivation to support peoples affected by cancer: “It’s great to have that support… it’s charity and it means a lot to me. I’m giving something back… Seven years ago somebody saved my life and it is important that I help the less fortunate as best as I can.” An excellent day from start to finish with vital funds and awareness being raised of The John Hartson Foundation and Testicular Cancer.
