12th May

Round 3 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship was held under the bright skies of Thruxton, Hampshire, where Stewart Lines was eager to move forward. As the green lights went out Lines once again made an impressive start. He was side by side with Alex Martin for the opening lap before Martin ran too wide and onto the grass making up further places.Lines completed his best lap time on lap 6. All he had to do to ensure a strong finish was to manage the tyres on the highly abrasive circuit. Five punctures in two laps meant the grid was rapidly changing. Lines was consistent and it was paying off. A red flag brought the session to an early close after a crash involving five front-running cars that had been sparked by a puncture on the start-finish straight. That all meant Lines finished the opening race in 18th.Despite the setbacks during the second race, the sun continued to shine a Lines took to the grid for the final time. Smith, Abbott and Aiden Moffat all dropped back in the early stages, promoting Lines to 24th. Lines continued to push hard, closing the gap. As the chequered flag was raised Lines appeared from the final chicane to cross the line in 20th.Stewart Lines on the day: “It was a challenging stat to the weekend but a positive finish. We are going the right way – we just need to build from here. I’m really happy with how everything is going at the moment, have managed to get a lot of seat time this weekend and have learned even more about the car. Hopefully stronger results aren’t too far away.”
