The LUKE Golf Day Roundup11th Aug
For the last few years, pro golfers, customers and celebrities alike come flocking to the Welcombe Hotel in Stratford-Upon-Avon for the LUKE annual Golf Day… and this year was no exception!
Last Friday (7/8/2015), 160 golfers from all over the country were met to a warm welcome from the LUKE crew. With 600 pints, 50 bottles of prosecco, 300 gourmet burgers, 600 samosas, and an array of prizes at the ready, we thought it was going to be a mad one and we weren’t disappointed.
While the teams may have started the day competitively, the halfway house and sunshine soon mellowed out the majority (we’ll put it down to that for some of the terrible golf we did see). Throw in one flying golf buggy and injured PR girl Sophie and the day was going well.
After the winning score of -20 came in, it was time to party. A two-hour free bar soon perked those up who were struggling from the early morning, and the evening of entertainment – Girls Rock, Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer, comedian Bob Mills and music from Midland’s Pro DJ – set everyone up for the rest of the night.
Moving on the after party at No. 1 Shakespeare Street bar where another two hours of sponsored drinks were waiting meant plenty of smiles and laughter on the night, a few sore heads the following morning.
It truly was a fantastic day and we want to give a special thanks to all that supported us. We raised a brilliant £3900 for The John Hartson Foundation and we already can’t wait for the next event.
One thing’s for sure though; if Carling did Golf Days, it would be way, way cheaper.
