THE MAD MANC CABARET
The latest instalment of the Mad Manc Cabaret was a melting pot of talent which certainly boiled over at times to give a unique and ground breaking show! Hosted by Mr Manchester himself, Terry Christian, what is hailed as the greatest variety show in the North West did not disappoint. Held at The Dancehouse Theatre in Manchester this former picture house, with its Art Deco interior, was transformed into a traditional cabaret style evening with circular seated tables and subtle lighting. The night was full of top class entertainment and a sprinkling of culture.
Up and coming Manchester bands The Marivaux and The Korsairs got proceedings under way with their own blend of guitars and drums while Kerry Leigh and Marvin Cheeseman treated us to some cutting edge comedy and poetry. Proceedings were made a tad grittier with Jun Tzu who shook the audience to its core with his passion and firebrand delivery. 90’s sensation Badly Drawn Boy gave us a virtuoso ramble before laying down one the hits from his Mercury award winning album and Rachel MacFarlane, beamed out her special blend of soul and gospel. The highlight of the night was ex Stone Roses’ guitarist Aziz Ibrahim teaming up with Welsh harpist Hero and percussion legend Inder Goldfinger to produce a truly ground breaking set, that had the crowd drooling for more.
A truly sensational evening of forward thinking entertainment all held together by Mr Christian and his alias Monsignor Malachi Mary O’Rourke.
